When NBC made the brilliant move of putting Jay Leno in the last Prime Time slot-every week night-this was just the latest sign that they no longer wanted to pay writers to work on shows like Law & Order and Medium. There is a reason that The Tonight Show has been on after the late news since the birth of network TV, late night comics are only funny when your about to fall asleep. The Jay Leno Show can’t even beat re-runs in the ratings.
I have never liked Conan O’Brien and really hated the idea of his taking over The Tonight Show. As a result, I have stopped watching The Tonight Show, and I have never, not even once, watched The Jay Leno Show. I’d rather watch the new shows on CBS and ABC than watch Leno. I guess I am not along in this.
I am kind of surprised that so many people are shocked that Conan is not hitting the Tonight Show ball out of the park-to me Conan is personally revolting and they could not have found a worst replacement for Leno.
My favorite late night talk show host is the brilliant and funny Craig Ferguson, who is so confident in his skills that he has two monologues and barely has time to squeeze in a guest each night. If Craig were on in David Letterman’s time slot, I think he would be doing even better against the lack luster Conan than Letterman is doing.
I have taken to watching The Late Show with David Letterman, though I am not a huge Letterman fan, he is better than Conan and Nightline. Of course, Conan could be loosing out to The Colbert Report as well-or even that informerical about making money online.
The latest news about The Jay Leno Show is that it is so bad that people are not even turning back to the NBC affiliate to watch the local news. Once The Network starts hurting the Affiliates, this is pretty bad business. Jay Leno as a Prime Time Summer Replacement show might make sense, going up against new Prime Time Shows is suicide.
NBC is run by idiots, and that’s no joke.

I totally agree with you, but I’m not one to go around yanking shows at the frst sign of trouble. The true test will be if he loses what little audience he has after the olympics are over and the season is winding down. Personally I don’t think it matters. NBC paid him too much money to yank it, so they’re going to stand by this failed experiment until the contract runs out.
At least its not some crappy reality show, though.
I like Ferguson and Letterman, but my late night comic of choice is Chelsea Handler, though I don’t think I could handle an hour of her. 30 minutes is just right. Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel are the same way. Better in small doses, but that’s just me
“I have never liked Conan O’Brien and really hated the idea of his taking over The Tonight Show. As a result, I have stopped watching The Tonight Show, and I have never, not even once, watched The Jay Leno Show.”
I could have said that too. I guess I just did.
But no comment would be complete without saying how I hate David Letterman and all he stands for.
There. Feel much better now.
Mystery Man-it seems that any show I do like is yanked after about six episodes, so it would only be fitting to retire Leno to tend to his billion dollar car collection. I think that was when I stopped liking Jay Leno, when he started driving to work in half million dollar cars while he was pretending to be ‘just a regular guy’.
Relax Max-David Letterman stands for something?
