You can buy the Twilight fanatic in your house an Edward Cullen or Bella Swan Barbie doll. The dolls are modeled after Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart — the actors who play the on-screen lovers — and cost $25 each.
I like to blame George Lucas for things like the Twilight Barbie Dolls, as it was Star Wars that took the whole idea of product marketing and pushed it to the limits. Now any movie that has even a bit of interest gets it’s own line of toys, breakfast cereal, comic book adaptations, and the name and logo printed on every flat surface known to man.
I once though about buying a Captain Kirk and Yeoman Rand Ken and Barbie Doll Set. These were just the normal Ken and Barbie playing dress up. The Twilight Ken and Barbie are tweaked to look a bit more like the movie stars.

As you can imagine, I was thrilled to find out that I would design the dolls and get to work with Stephenie Meyer. Stephenie herself came to Mattel and art directed the look of the dolls. She was integral in perfecting every detail as she really wanted Edward and Bella to embody the spirit of the characters that she envisioned while writing the series. We also had the ACTUAL costumes from the movie set that were used in the “Forever 17” scene to help inspire the costumes for the dolls. It was an unforgettable experience and I hope TWILIGHT fans are just as excited about the dolls as I am!”
