Cowboys Beat Undefeated Saints
In a stunning 24-17 win the Dallas Cowboys ended the perfect season dreams of the New Orleans Saints. The Saints allowed the Cowboys to score two touchdowns in the opening minutes of the game, and that is a hard deficient to overcome. But the game was still close and victory came in the finial minutes when the Cowboys defense took the ball out of the hands of Drew Brees. The game could have been sealed a few minutes earlier if kicker Nick Folk had not hit the upright on a 24-yard field goal try.
Hey Jerry, how about getting us a new kicker?
Nick Folk aside, The Dallas Cowboys played a near perfect game against the near perfect Saints. Dallas fans are once again thinking Super Bowl and Dallas haters are making excuses for the Saints.
The game was an NFL Network game-I really, really hate the NFL Network. They have the worst announcers in the world, they loved the Officials and they hated The Cowboys. They also had their own little Drew Brees fan club going as they gushed and praised the struggling quarterback every time he stepped onto the field. The love was not evident for Tony Romo or Roy Williams, though they did seem impressed that DeMarcus Ware played as well as he did.
So now it’s on to the sorry Washington Redskins-where the Dallas Cowboys might well lose. After years of watching the Cowboys, I know that they have no problem getting up for ‘Real’ games, but often loose to teams they should beat. Let’s hope they get the message that this game matters, too.
So Coach Cupcake gets to keep his job for another week and the Dallas Cowboys get to bask in the national spotlight for beating an undefeated team. And I hope that Nick Folk doesn’t have too hard a time figuring out how to file for unemployment.
