Search Engine Optimazation for Dummies

Just as self help gurus will tell you to keep reading more self help books, SEO experts should tell you to keep reading SEO books. There is always something new going on, or something that you never got around to trying last time you read a Search Engine Optimization book. Or like me, you spend too much time fiddling around with templates and you mess up your old SEO work. SEO for Dummies covers a lot of the standard ground of SEO. Name your sight with keywords in mind. Use your keywords everyplace you can. Submit your site everywhere you…

Compete Rank and Alexa Rank

It is possible that there are bloggers who don’t care about their stats, but I am not one of them. If You Write It’s Google Pagerank is 3 and my Alexa Rank is-at the moment-148,702. I just installed the Compete add on for Firefox and it tells I have a Compete rank of 17-which is the Compete Rank for Blogspot-individual blogspot blogs don’t rate a rank on Compete. I am no longer listed on Real Rank as I have gone on record saying some pretty unpleasant things about PayPerPost-mainly that it sucks. And since Real Rank is really Payperpost Rank,…

Follow This Blog with Blogger Followers

Blogger has always been my blog platform of choice, though the serious bloggers all say to get your own domain if you want to hit the big time. Maybe one of these days, but not just yet. The good people at Blogger keep rolling out new widgets and doodads and I stop by from time to time to take a look at them. As any Search Engine Optimization expert…

A small lesson in SEO, the popular media, and nudity on the web. I was trolling Google Trends, as is my wont, when I found a story about a Naked Vanessa Anne Hudgens photo. This photo seemed to be Vanessa Anne Hudgen naked in a bathroom, but it was really just a dirty hotel room. I had never heard of Vanessa Anne Hudgens, nor had I watched Disney’s High School Musical, or High School Musical Two, which set a number of ratings records for cable TV. But I am a guy and a Naked Vanessa Anne Hudgens is as good…

How to Find Images Online

The distinction between “fair use” and infringement may be unclear and not easily defined. There is no specific number of words, lines, or notes that may safely be taken without permission. Acknowledging the source of the copyrighted material does not substitute for obtaining permission. The U.S. Copyright Office I’ve been blogging for a while and I am always amazed when a post takes on a life of it’s own. My blog got a little over 3500 hits yesterday. My normal day is about 100 hits or so. Most of them were looking at my Vanessa Anne Hudgens post. I got…
