Certified Diamonds

I’m a great fan of Amazon.com and I am often amazed at the things they have for sale. Things like certified diamonds. Now I don’t spend much time at jewelers and I never even bought a diamond wedding ring, but I do like the look a of nice diamond.

There are a lot of ads on TV telling me to buy certified diamonds, though I am not all that sure what a certified diamond. Seems there are a few different people who do this certified diamonds thing-EGL certified diamond and GIA certified diamonds being to two that I have heard the most often. EGL stands for European Gemological laboratory and GLA stands for Gemological Institute of America. There is also the AGS which stands for American Gem Society and the IGI which stand for International Gemological Institute. They all seem to claim theirs is the best standard for judging a diamond and it seems pretty common for a diamond to be certified by one of these companies nowadays.

So it’s a good idea to buy certified diamonds, this has to do with diamond color, diamond cut, and overall diamond quality. Finding certified diamonds online is easy enough to do. But you also need to find someone you trust when your spending a lot of money on certified diamond earrings, a certified diamond ring, or even gia certified loose diamonds. It’s fun to look at some of these sites, but I do have to wonder who buys certified loose diamonds, do a lot of people make their own diamond jewelry?

I’ve always like diamond rings, though the diamonds I have owned where on the tiny size. I have seen gia certified loose diamonds on cop shows and that is about it. Being a portrait photographer I see a lot of people wearing nice diamond rings and diamond earrings. Most of these are older people and the egl certified diamonds don’t really add much to thier apperances. Eveyone in the movies has huge diamond engagement rings, but they are likely glass and not a gia certified diamond engagement ring.

Just for fun-
