Dallas Cowboys Loose to Redskins

The reality of it is, you have the opportunity to go 16-0 every year in the regular season, but that’s not realistic.” -Tony Romo

The Standard Issue Terrell Owens Controversy comes into play after the game. T.O. is unhappy about not getting the ball and the rest of us are not happy about him not catching it.

In what was supposed to be just one more win on the way to the Dallas Cowboys winning the Super Bowl, but the Washington Redskins beat the Dallas Cowboys 26-24. The game was never as close as the finial score would indicate. The Dallas Cowboys had their hats handed to them by the Washington Redskins. The Cowboys could have still pulled it out if only the Great and Glorious T.O. had been able to grab one or two of the way too many passes tossed his way in the second half of Sunday’s game.

I was a bit sad for T.O. last week when unknown element Miles Austin got two huge catches and Terrell only had 17 yards. But let me tell you, I’d rather Terrell Owens have no yards and the Dallas Cowboys win. It was pretty clear that T.O. and Tony Romo were doing their best buds routine as Tony tossed ball after ball T.O.’s way and T.O. dropped ball after ball.

There was no running game to speak of, even handing the ball of to T.O. twice didn’t net more than a few yards. It reminded me of the good old days of Deon Sanders when he played Offense, Defense, and Special Teams-and may have done some Cheer Leading as well. All Deon all the time didn’t work any better than all T.O. all the time.

Amazingly, there is the usual Terrell Owens Controversy because he thinks the problem was that he didn’t get the ball enough. I think he didn’t catch the ball enough when it was thrown his way.

Of course, it’s a team sport, and the whole team lost. As Troy Aikman pointed out when the Washington Redskins sealed the coffin on the Dallas Cowboys-if you want to pretend to be World Champion contenders, you have to stop drives long before they get a chance to burn up the clock and score game ending points. One loss doesn’t mean the end of the season, but it doesn’t help anyone think that this will be the group to win a playoff game either.
