Search Engine Journal has a pretty good article about all those Adsense ads for Ford that mysteriously appeared on blogs over the past few weeks. Seems that Ford and Google made it Job 1 to spam the internet with Ford themed Adword ads, even though there was no mention of Ford, or Ford Products on said blogs.
Since I added Adsense to my site, it has been a bit of fun to watch the ads that have popped up. Sometimes they have been off-base, but still made sense. If the post is brand new, the ads are often for blogging, but once they have been ‘read’ by Google, they fit with something in the post. With the glaring exception of the Ford ads.
At first I thought that I must have written a review of Ford Fairlane starring The Diceman, but that I would have remembered doing that. Or maybe I had talked about some brand of Ford car without realizing that it was a Ford brand. But no, that was not it either.
To be honest, it was always just one ad out of the eight or so that I have floating around. I also have the bad habit of changing subjects all the time, so my main page ads are all over the map anyway. But the Ford spots did stick as they had nothing to do with anything I’ve ever written about.
