Meryl Streep Says Blogging is a Waste of Time, Well Duh

Ok, I think she said something along the lines of just blogging to your friends is not enough. People get mad about something, like The War, and then they blog about it and vent for a bit and think they have done something. This then stops them from doing something in the real world. Like Meryl Streep-maybe we should all go on high profile morning news shows like Good Morning America. Hmm, it has been a while since I was on any major TV Networks-oh, that’s right, I’ve NEVER been on a major television network. So maybe blogging might just be enough for me after all.
The blog comments were only a small part of the time Meryl Streep spent with Diane Sawyer in a taped interview on ABC’s Good Morning America. Streep complained that the problem with blogging is “it just sort of goes out and corroborates with all the other people who agree with you and then you’re done.” So I should write about people I don’t agree with?
Maybe we should all go out and make movies, oh wait, you pretty much have to be fucking rich to make movies, don’t you? But any poor schmuck with a half hour to kill can write a blog.
Scott Whitlock has a pretty detailed article about Meryl Streep and her GMA interview. I don’t agree with him about everything, but there is a lot to read here. Blogging may be a waste of time, but there are a hell of a lot of us doing it just the same.
