Skulls on a Wall

As with most things in my life I tend to go through phases on DevinatART. My blogging has been my biggest obsession for the past few months, and I do like the interaction with the occasional commenter or other blogger. But my art has a way of calling me back once in a while.

This is a simple image with just a few small tweaks in Photoshop. The dark sepia toning fits the subject matter to my way of thinking. Adding a bit of texture also helps with that old photo look. Really, I didn’t do enough to the image. The process involves too much frustration with my current computer and it will be a while before I get a new one. Not that it is impossible to do any artwork, just that it takes so much longer than it should.

I have been on DeviantART for some time now, but have sold like four prints. The standard starving artist rap. Like everything else you have to work at it to get any results, and I have been putting my time into my blogging. Mmy real world work takes up a bit of my time as well. Still, I have the occasional regret that I am not fiddling around in Photoshop because I am fiddling around on Blogger.

DeviantART is also a pretty humbling place, there are some real artists there that post amazing work on an hourly basis. As with blogging it was possible for me to go around and find a handful of people that I liked to look at their work and they liked to look at mine. My small circle of friends is still there and I get positive comments whenever I post something new.

DeviantART is a cool site. You can find anything from cute and cuddly images of kittens to bondage pics that exist purely for their shock value-and everything in between. It is always fun to look at other people favorites, and one way to get a few visitors to your page is to go and favor a lot of images. If you’ve never been there, give it a look and browse for a bit. You’ll be surprised at what you find.
