HBO’s Enlightened

I’ve been a self-help junkie for about thirty years.  There’s nothing quite like the high you get from reading a good self help book.  I’ve never had the money or the urge to take the next step and attend a conference or a workshop or a retreat. Our hero in Enlightened is a woman who had a bit of a breakdown and then went to Hawaii for treatment.  In standard not the real world fashion, she goes back to work for the company that helped her to have her breakdown in the first place. Amy is still a nutcase when…

The 10X Rule

So, what’s the difference between success and failure?  Action, of course.  The successful people of the world do things, while the less successful sit around watching tv and playing video games.  Hmm. When Fish Fly-On Becoming World Famous

Reviewed by the World Famous If You Write It Blog During a recent meeting our Boss asked us-How many of you want to work here next year? One person out of ten raised their hand. There is a lot of money here, just not for us. There is a lot of hard work and a lot of long hours-that is for us. As with most companies, the front line people, the ones that the actual customers get to interact with-are the ones that get paid the least and have the least reason to make a good impression. The Home Office…

Made to Stick

Walking around the library I find my way to the new books shelve and start scanning the titles. It’s the usual suspects, latest bestsellers and graphic novels, stuff for the restless mind that wants to get away from it all. Then there is a book with a fairly convincing bit of duct tape on the cover. Why some ideas survive and others die. Hmm, sounds like my kind book. And it is. Covering everything from the urban legend of the stolen kidney to the success of the Jared Subway commercials, this is really way cool stuff. Ok, saying really way…
