Tattoos-The Pierced Ears of The New Millennium

Back tattoos have a big part of the body art craze of the last few years. From time to time I see people with what I would call extreme body piercing and tattooing. I like most bodyart, but tend not to be too impressed with facial tattoos and designs that run down the arm to the fingernails. But maybe that’s just me.

When I was in high school, back in the Dark Ages, it was a bit of a scandal to get your ears pierced. Just plain old bottom of the ear lobe piercing with a little rhinestone stud. Now, well, anything goes. A lot of people go the design your own tattoo route and so you see some less than artistic tats out there. But then, some people are really good and the designs are beautiful. I’m far too big a wimp for tattoos myself, though I did think about getting my ears pierced when I was in high school.

I work in churches, for the most part, and most designs for tattoos are not really all that church friendly. Lots of older folks still think that only freaks and weirdos have tattoos. And to be honest, a lot of freaks and weirdos do have tattoos. But these days the fake tattoos are pretty good-so the casual observer such as myself can’t really tell the difference.

I have seen a lot of Henna tats are Ren Fairs-and I do like the way more of them look. There is also wonderfully anachronic about women dressed in hoop skirts with bright blue tats poking out here and there. Ink is meant to be seen, and I tend to find myself staring once in a while. The piercings of ears in all locations and manners is also interesting. I like that whole top of the ear peircing.

Spider tattoos and star tattoos and all manner of wildlife tattoos and tribal tattoos seem to be pretty commonplace these days. I am often surprised to see a tatoo on a older woman-and it is not an old tattoo. One of my poor relations is a tattoo artist, though I doubt that he will ever hit the big time and be on TV like the squad at Miami Ink or London Ink. Tattoo design seems simple enough-and the internet makes it easy to find all the tattoo designs you could ever want.

The days of simple tattoo pictures of hearts with MOM written in them seem to be gone, though that particular tattoo design makes regular appearances in the Movies and on TV. Tattoo stencils are the easy way do tattooing. Temporary tattoos you can use to impress someone in a dimly lite room. The temporary tattoos I like are the ones of rose stems that circle the wrist or upper arm. A temporary tattoo lasts about three days, whereas the real ones last a tad longer.

It’s even easier to just find some tattoo pictures and add a tattoo using Photoshop. Maybe the facial tats aren’t so bad after all. I like the tribal tattoos myself.

  1. I think you are right. Some freaks DO have tattoos but pretty regular, average every day people do too. I am one of them but you’d never know unless I wanted you to know. I chose to get my 2 tattoos where I could hide them unless I chose not to. I love them. I appreciate good art even if it’s on the body. I don’t ever plan on getting more as I do think there should be a limit….well for me anyway. 😉

  2. Well, 2 tattoos where they can’t be normally seen? How intriguing.

I also like good art-even if its on the body.

  3. Dude you Hotlinked my RSS IMG and ate up alot of bandwidth on my server. You have a good blog here, and although I appreciate the traffic, I don’t like the fact that you hotlinked and ate up alot of my bandwidth. I moved the image and Im still getting visitors from your website clicking out for the RSS Image.

With a nice site like you have here, Id invest a couple of bucks and host it own your own server.

Why are you using free hosting and risk the chance of getting banned anyways? Would be just a waste of time.

Since Im a busisness man, you can host it on my server but I won’t charge the price that 99% of hosting plans would cost.

Im not totally anal though, as webmasters it’s better to do business together than compete and I wouldn’t mind funnelling some of the traffic you recieve and vice versa.

    Email me [email protected]

I need to edit my 404 page that your users are seeing so that I can atleast get some activity for the traffic your are sending me.

  4. Sorry about that, Chief.
I found the RSS button on a number of blog posts talking about RSS Buttons. Should have just whipped up something of my own, but I can be a bit a lazy.

I removed the html from the two places I used to, so that should be that.

  5. No problem, Im lazy too. I didn’t mind the traffic, just didn’t think a simple RSS button would eat up so much bandwidth though. I Like your blog though so Im putting you on my blog roll If you don’t mind. What tool are you using for backlinking BTW?

  6. I have been using Blogrolling, but they seem to be having problems at the moment.

I have a Technorati and Link page and have added you there until such time as blogroll gets up and running again.
