The Dallas Cowboys and The New York Giants

Dallas Cowboy fans have been talking about the Superbowl for the past couple of months. When this year’s team looks good, they look unstoppable. When The Dallas Cowboys don’t look good, as they have for the past four games, we close our eyes and think about when they look good.

Coach Cupcake has used the dreaded light switch metaphor for the Dallas Cowboys, saying they will turn it on for the next game. Back in the Glory Days it was kind of a given that the Dallas Cowboys didn’t really care about the regular season and saved their ‘A’ game for the play-offs. This is the best team, by the stats, in Cowboys history. If they loose on Sunday against the New York Giants, the stats will mean zip. The fact that they were soundly beaten by the Redskins, meaningless game or not, was a bit depressing.

We still expect the Dallas Cowboys to get to the Superbowl and be soundly spanked by The New England Patriots. This has been the talk in the Dallas Cowboys Nation for some time. There were moments of hope, when other teams showed that the Patriots had weaknesses. But the Patriots still won those games.

The New York Giants are just a rest stop on the way to The Superbowl. Beating them for the third time will be just one more notch for the records on this record breaking season. Which is why Tony Romo can spend the weekend in Mexico with his good luck charm, Jessica Simpson. To me, the problem in not Jessica Simpson- if she was my girlfriend I would be spending all the time I could with her as well. It’s the idea that Tony Romo likes to run around as if he hasn’t a care in the world. The Dallas Cowboys looked bad in that last game. Well, maybe Tony took some game film to look at between body shots with Jessica.

It is still up in the air as to whether Terrell Owens will play. The Dallas Cowboys are a different team when he is not on the field, so all of us that booed when was signed are hoping that he will play on Sunday. This is the biggest game the Dallas Cowboys have played in about ten years. There rumor mills on the local talk shows have Wade Phillips packing his bags if the Cowboys loose on Sunday. If the Dallas Cowboys loose this game, if they don’t get to the Superbowl, and if they don’t win it. Then this season was a failure.

Can The Dallas Cowboys turn it on? We’ll have to wait till Sunday to see.
