Under God added to Texas Pledge. . .Texas Pledge?

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

That’s the standard Pledge of Allegiance that you likely recited in school everyday in an attempt to brain wash you into liking America. Well, I like America just fine, though I am not sure that this little bit of propaganda did the trick for me. I went to school in Texas for the whole twelve long and dreadful years it took to reach graduation. Not once in those twelve years did I ever recite a Pledge of Allegiance similar to the one above that was directed at the Texas Flag instead of the American flag.
I used to be one of those photographers that take those incredibly bad school portraits and I was rather shocked the first time I saw a roomful of children stick out their hands palm up and recite the following:

Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible.

Right. Is Texas planning on leaving the Union again? Why the hell does Texas need its own layer of propaganda on top of the standard dose to Old Glory? According to a state website, this silly bit of business has been around since 1936. The news on this item is that a Federal Court upheld the State’s right to tack on One State Under God to the tiny bit of fluff. Texas lawyers have way too much time on their hands. I guess these means once Texas declares its Independence again we can say that God is on our side. Everyone seems to claim God is on their side anyway, though, don’t they? There seem to be about fourteen other states with Pledges to their flags and I am just as baffled by them.
