Wet Dream

It was April the 41st, being a quadruple leap year I was driving in downtown Atlantis -My Barracuda was in the shop, so I was in a rented Stingray, and it was overheating-So I pulled into a Shell station-They said I’d blown a seal
I said, “Fix the damn thing and leave my private life out of it, okay pal?”

I grew up listening to Bill Cosby and Bob Newhart and later on a few other comedians who had albums in thrift stores. A lot of the stuff I didn’t think was too funny, but some of it was down right great. Dr Demento was on the radio when I was in High School and I even wrote a song and entered a contest. My song was about D&D and was perfect for my nerd group of friends. The song that won was about armpit music. You always need to know your audience.

Curing the course of my school years there were a lot of funny songs, Weird Al was king with Jim Stamford and Ray Stevens playing court jesters. This was some great stuff. The occasional one hit wonder like Wet Dreams by Kip Addotta was fun as well. I actually paid real money for PacMan Fever from a new record store.

But now there doesn’t seem to be anything fun any more. Or maybe I am just not listening to the right radios. Do they still make silly songs? Well, maybe I’m just too old for new funny songs anyway.
